A Word from our Director

Submitted on January 06, 2022 by .

Greetings,

On behalf of the staff at SHARE Head Start and Early Head Start, we would like to welcome you to the 2022 – 2023 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you and your family to ensure that our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that to be successful in school, our children need support from both home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a significant difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.

This school year has brought about many changes due to COVID-19. Therefore, we have implemented the COVID-Safe ABC’s.  Since September 2020, we have progressively increased our health and safety precautionary measures to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission in our centers. All centers are required to adhere to enhanced safety management measures to safeguard the wellbeing of the families that we serve and our employees:

  1. COVID-Safe Accessis about restricting entry of individuals who may pose a higher risk of transmission to safeguard the wellbeing of children and staff in the centers (e.g. restriction of visitors, and increased health checks).
  2. COVID-Safe Behaviorsis about cultivating the right norms and habits among parents, children and staff, to reduce the risk of transmission (e.g. wearing of masks or face shields, carrying out activities in small groups within each class, increased cleaning of premises and equipment, good personal hygiene).
  3. COVID-Safe Classroomsis about adopting classroom management strategies to minimize interaction between different classes to reduce the risk of widespread transmission within a preschool (e.g. no cross placement of staff, keeping staff and children within their own areas).

We seek parents’ understanding if some of these safety precautionary measures may cause inconvenience to you and your family. They are necessary safety precautions during these exceptional times, and we thank everyone for their cooperation. We also seek parents’ help to reinforce safe habits with children at home, so that the children may practice these habits consistently.

Although we have implemented health and safety precautions we must expect some new COVID-19 cases despite our best efforts. Our priority is to be able to detect and contain any confirmed cases quickly and prevent new clusters from forming. We seek parents’ understanding and support if we need to implement any measure that may affect your child’s center or classroom as a result.

The staff of SHARE Head Start and Early Head Start would like to thank you for your continued support and positivity as we strive to do what is best for ALL families, students and employees.

Best Wishes for a Great Year!
