JOB SUMMARY:  Assists in fulfilling requirements specified according to OHS Guidelines in all aspects of Head Start programmatic activities. Primary areas of job performance include working cooperatively with and under the guidance and direction of the classroom teacher, assisting teachers in effectively carrying out classroom responsibilities, conducting classroom experiences in the absence of the Teacher, and safely transporting Head Start children and their parents. Implements positive guidance techniques to support a positive classroom environment. Performs related duties as needed or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum for entry-level
Teacher Assistant: CDA (Child Development Associate Credential or higher credential in Early Childhood Education.  
Teacher Assistant II: Associates Degree or higher credential in Early Childhood Education or related field.  Experience working with preschool children in an organized preschool program preferred.   Valid SC driver’s license with acceptable driving record required; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required, or must obtain CDL within the probationary period. Acceptable written and verbal communication skills required. English/Spanish Bilingual speaking preferred. Must be able to lift 60 lbs., stoop, kneel, run, jump, and move without any limitations.
