Policy Council Recognition Luncheon

Submitted on: June 12, 2026

SHARE's Annual Parent & Policy Council Recognition Luncheon was held on Friday, May 22, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina.

This event reaffirmed that Community Action Agencies and programs such as Head Start creates lasting change by empowering, engaging, and supporting families. We honored the parents, leaders, staff, community representatives, and partners who continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, families, and communities every day.

The luncheon also celebrated parents who took important steps toward education, employment, financial stability, leadership, and personal growth throughout the school year. Patrice Hawthorne, Family Partnership Facilitator, acknowledged parent successes and goal completion for the year and recognized families for their determination, resilience, and accomplishments. Special parent awards were presented in the categories of:

  • Against All Odds
  • Scholarship for Head Start Graduate
  • Scholarship for Head Start Parent
  • Beating the Odds

Special recognition was also given to Pamela Sims, President & CEO of SHARE, and Shannon Vaughn, Director of Children & Family Development, for their continued leadership, vision, and commitment to strengthening children, families, and communities through high-quality services and meaningful family engagement.

We proudly recognized the partnerships that reflect Community Action in practice, including:

  • Greenville Federal Credit Union
  • Children’s Trust of South Carolina
  • Fatherhood and Male Engagement Partners
  • Local Churches and Community Volunteers

Together, these partnerships help strengthen families, create opportunities, and build stronger communities.
