SHARE's LIHEAP Program is designed to assist low-income households at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines pay the price of home energy, defined as residential heating and cooling, and to increase energy self-sufficiency; thereby reducing the vulnerability resulting from energy needs. The heating program operates from October 1 - April 30. The program assists eligible households facing weather related emergencies due to the cold temperatures. Assistance is provided toward the following: electricity, natural gas, propane gas, fuel oil, kerosene (delivery only), wood or coal. The cooling program operates from May 1 - September 30. The program assists eligible households facing weather related crisis due to warmer temperatures. Assistance is provided toward electric bills, window air conditioners and fans.
